Episode 29: Imaginary Imagineering

Walt Disney World, Disney, Imagineering, WDI, Rumors

Welcome to This Weeks Show!

Walt Disney World is constantly changing and evolving. With every attraction or restaurant that is taken away, a new one is added. But Disney never asks us, the Disney fans, what we would like to build in the theme parks and resorts. That's why this week, my guest Chuck Rodriguez and I give our Imaginary Imagineering opinions on what we would like to see build in Walt Disney World. I hope you enjoy Episode 29: Imaginary Imagineering.

  1. Phil, first I have to say that I absolutely love the podcast. I find you to be very genuine and honest. I stumbled across your podcast and I am now going back to listen to them all.
Second, I also have to say that when I listen to the podcast I have a hard time not picturing Jeff Garlin (the dad from the Goldbergs) because your voice and his are identical.
The reason I am writing a comment on this particular podcast is I have an awesome attraction idea that Disney NEEDS to do. I don’t know if you are aware of this but Netflix is about to air a reboot of The Magic Schoolbus this month. My idea is for Disney to by those rights, and have a Magic Schoolbus ride on the same concept as Star Tours but grander in the Wonders of Life pavilion. Picture this, you would board the bus and at the driver’s seat is an animatronic Mrs Frizzle. you would take your seat and for the most part see the back of her head with a few movements but every now and then she would turn to talk to the group. But the main part would be that each bus window would be an interactive 3D screen so unlike star tours where you just look straight ahead, you could do a 360 and see different things, like giant animals. It would almost be a combination of Star Tours, the 360 movies in Epcot, with a nod to 20,000 leagues. They could even add a little 4D effects like if the bus went under water, have a tiny shot of water and Frizzle say something like “Fixing windows now”. Anyway, I just think it would be awesome and fit in with the whole edutainment concept. Also, they could have random different adventures so it would have that repeatability factor.
Anyway, love the show and I will eventually catch up, I am currently on Episode 30.

    • Hi Rick! First off, thanks so much for the kind words about me and the podcast! I really appreciate it and you’re awesome for saying them! And I love your idea for the Magic Schoolbus attraction! The idea reminds me a bit of the Hogwarts Express over at the park that shall not be named with all of the windows as interactive screens. I do hope WDW does something with that Wonders of Life Pavilion soon as it’s sad to see it just sitting there! And I’ve never gotten the Jeff Garlin comparison before! I haven’t seen The Goldbergs in a while but I do love that show! And it’s set near my hometown of Philadelphia so that gives us something else in common! Anyway, thank you again so much for the kind words and it means so much to me that you’re enjoying the podcast! Have an amazing day!
