High quality sources have been telling me for weeks that an Incredibles Makeover was on the way for the beloved Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Well, today that news was confirmed by Disney Imagineer Nicholas Wilde. “It will be unlike anything we’ve ever done,” Wilde says, “I honestly think it will offer something for the fans of the classic attraction while bringing in new, younger fans who love ‘The Incredibles’ franchise and its characters.”
The Imagineering concept art for the new attraction looks like Disney will be using a similar (if not the same) ride system with an enclosed ride vehicle, resembling a vehicle Mr. Incredible rode in the original film:
Rumored to be getting the axe in this project is the “Progressland Model” that was once introduced on television by Walt Disney in the 1960’s. Instead, a model of the city of Metroville, the town the Incredibles call home will stand in its place.
The head Imagineer in charge of the attraction makeover, Joe Rohde, was very enthusiastic about the project. “I think our guests will now have a much more fast-paced, magical, and Incredible experience!”
Look for the current version of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover to close sometime after the Summer of 2018 to ensure that this new experience will be ready for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
So, are you excited about this all new Incredible Attraction?!
