When you think of food in a theme park, you probably think chicken nuggets, pizza, or hamburgers, right? Well, the Disney theme parks certainly sell those items, but over the last several years, Disney has added many vegetarian, gluten-free, and healthier items. But, if you’re looking to get a list of those, you may have to look elsewhere today. Because Disney has also added some crazy, fun foods that you might only be able to find in their theme parks! Here are the craziest foods you can actually eat in Walt Disney World:
Turkey Leg – Everywhere – If you’ve ever been to the Walt Disney World theme parks, then you’ve probably seen the famous (or infamous) turkey legs. If you haven’t, imagine the drumstick of the turkey that you may have on Thanksgiving. Now imagine that that drumstick is about the size of your forearm and smoked to perfection and you might have an idea of what the Disney turkey legs actually look like. Turkey leg stands are located in each of the Walt Disney World theme parks and before ordering one, make sure you’re hungry. Oh, and make sure you really, really like turkey!
PB&J Burger at ESPN Club – Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas houses a sports lover’s paradise, the ESPN Club. Huge TVs cover the walls and there are nightly trivia contests covering a wide range of professional and college sports. The real draw here though, at least to me, is the food. And every time I go, I order the ridiculously over the top PB&J Burger. It is exactly what it sounds like: a burger topped with jelly, bacon, and jalapeños with a big spoonful of peanut butter on the bottom bun. You just have to try it at least once!
Battered Burger at Cookes of Dublin – Located right on the outside of Disney Springs’ Raglan Road Pub is the Cookes of Dublin counter service restaurant. This is a great place to grab a quick, Irish inspired bite and a drink (maybe an adult beverage?) and one of their most popular items is the Battered Burger & Chips. That’s a hand battered burger topped with garlic mayonnaise, tomato chutney, and mixed greens. I’m a burger junkie and I also believe that everything is better when it’s fried, so to me, this is one of the greatest meals in all of Walt Disney World.
Mac & Cheese Hot Dog – Located in the Dinoland section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, Restaurantosaurus is an air conditioned hideaway that has some fun and unique items on the menu. The best of the bunch, in my opinion, is the Mac & Cheese Hot Dog. What’s not to love? We’re talking about a foot-long hot dog covered in macaroni and cheese. It’s like mashing two of your favorite childhood memories together in one awesome bite, every single time.
As you can see, the Walt Disney World parks and resorts have something for every adventurous eater out there! On your next visit be sure to pack some antacids and a pair of shorts with an elastic waist band!
