Five Reasons To Order: Pulled Beef Brisket Sandwich at Studio Catering Company
When I walk through the theme parks at Walt Disney World, I get hungry. REALLY hungry! (Who am I kidding…I get hungry even if I’m watching TV on my couch.)
Even if you’re not a chowhound like me, you’ll definitely need to come up with a plan of attack when it comes to your meals at Walt Disney World. There are so many restaurant and food choices that it can be very overwhelming. Don’t worry though because in this series of blog posts that I’m doing for my buddy Phil Gramlich and Ear To There Travel, I’m going to share with you some of my personal favorites that I enjoy time and time again.
Okay, enough of my jibber jabber. Welcome to the very first edition of “Five Reasons to Order.”
Grab a handful of napkins because I’m going to give you five reasons to order the Pulled Beef Brisket Sandwich at the Studio Catering Company in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Reason #1 – Forget all of those tough and dry excuses for brisket that you’ve had in so many restaurants because the brisket made here, which is served finely chopped, is super moist and very tender. The texture isn’t the only win here because the flavor is equally awesome. It’s got a subtle smokiness that rounds it all out nicely.
Reason #2 – This sucker is served on a ciabatta roll! Forget those lifeless sandwich buns that are merely phoning it in, this roll has that classic thin crust with soft and airy pockets on the inside. That airiness works perfectly because a more traditional roll may end up just soaking up all of the juices from the brisket and turn the sandwich into a soggy mess. No bueno!
Reason #3 – Want a little cheese on that? What kind would you assume would get thrown on there in a typical quick-service kind of setting? Cheddar? American? Nope – this little beauty has a slice of Muenster cheese. I know, that wouldn’t have been my first choice if I was the mad scientist who invented this amazing sandwich. However, it plays off the flavor of the brisket perfectly!
Reason #4 – If you’re going to throw something green on a sandwich like this, you’ve got to go big. It would be like getting a fast break on a tied up game 7 of the NBA finals. It’s tied up, 10 seconds on the clock, what do you do? Don’t do a lay-up and slap a piece of iceberg lettuce on this sandwich. Nope, you’ve got to go for a two-handed, backboard smashing dunk by laying on some arugula. It’s peppery, it’s got a perfect amount of crunch for texture, it’s good for you… what else do I need to say!
Reason #5 – Unless you say otherwise, the default side you’ll get is a handful of french fries. Say otherwise! Ask to have the house-made potato chips on the side instead. The fries are ho-hum standard french fries that you can get anywhere in the theme parks. They’re nothing to write home about. However, the house-made chips are just that; freshly sliced (a little thick, which is nice), fried up, and then tossed with barbecue spices. Don’t worry, pairing them with your brisket sandwich won’t be barbecue overload.
Here’s a little tip from your buddy Johnny:
On busy times of the year, this is a very popular spot to grab lunch. I usually get there right as they open (usually at 11:30) so I can beat the rush because it can be hard to snag a table when things get busy. I’m not a fan of pacing around looking for tables when I’ve got a tray full of good food that’s waiting to get in my belly.
Johnny Shortsleeve lives a hop, skip, and a jump from Walt Disney World, so chances are good that you’ll find him hanging out there when he’s got some free time. The dude likes to eat, so he definitely knows his way around the restaurants on property.
