Rick is the member of the Ear to There team who is closest to the magic in Florida. He is in the theme parks at least once-per-week to keep you updated on everything that is happening “on-the-ground.” As an annual passholder at both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, he can answer absolutely any question you may have about the parks with recent knowledge. This proximity has also allowed him to come through for clients on short notice, at times. Moving to Florida from the desert of Arizona, he also has experience a lot of first-hand expertise with Disneyland and Las Vegas. Sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination. Rick has done cross-country road trips on half-a-dozen occasions. He can even help you plan a trip like that.
After spending a good portion of his career in radio, he has also decided to use his broadcasting experience to help you plan your trips as the host of the Tall Guys Talk Travel Podcast, which focuses heavily on Disney and Universal theme parks. He also uses that background to bring you Facebook Live broadcasts from the parks almost every week. You can catch those at Facebook.com/EarToThereRick.
Outside of theme parks, Rick has worked in travel, radio, television, newspaper, and professional sports. He is a marathoner, who has competed in races in a number of different states; including with runDisney. Once per-month, he serves as a race director for trail runs in the Tampa Bay-area. He is also a hiker with goals of one day completing the Ireland Way, and El Camino de Santiago de Compostela. At this very moment, he has jars with extra cash in them dedicated to those endeavors, much the same way you probably have jars for your next Disney vacation.
Personally, Rick got married to his chemist-wife Courtney in 2013. They have two cats, Lilly and Cassie. Lilly is absolutely perfect, and Cassie is a little demon who thinks she can get away with everything because she looks like a baby, even though she is a “senior cat.” He has also dabbled in art. When he lived in Pennsylvania (yes, he has moved a lot), on several occasions he had paintings and photography work displayed in local galleries. He has volunteered for organizations helping victims of Domestic Violence, and homeless animals. In is rare spare time, Rick working hard to learn Mandarin and French.
