If you’re getting ready to sail the seven seas with all the magic Mickey can muster, our Disney-specialized travel agents are here to help you with a few of our tip Disney cruise tips sure to help you make the most of your nautical adventure.
Whether you’re in the first stages of planning and wondering how much a Disney cruise costs or the best way to book a Disney cruise, or are leaving for your first port of call within the week, our Disney-specialized travel agents are here to share their very best Disney cruise tips with you!
Oh boy! Let’s dive in with a good old-fashioned Mickey countdown…
Disney Cruise Tip #7: Pack for close quarters, matey!
As our Disney-specialized travel agent Heather Tomasek says…
“You have to be a bit more organized because the staterooms are smaller than most hotel rooms. Packing outfits that can be layered can help you bring less.”
But – don’t forget – when you board your Disney ship, you’ll leave your luggage with porters so you can explore the ship before the sail away party.
Jen Allen, another of our amazing travel agents, reminds us…
“When you board, your luggage will be stored and then delivered to your room. Be sure to keep your important medications and documents in a bag with you.”
Having a small bag set aside with those important items will help you feel calm, cool, and collected as you explore your ship and prepare for sail away!
Also, don’t forget to pack:
- sunscreen (even for Alaska!),
- a sweater for cold nights on deck,
- outfits for themed events like pirate night or Star Wars Day at Sea, or
- an upscale outfit if you plan to have a more formal meal.
Disney Cruise Tip #6: Book kiddo care early and often!
Our wonderful Vacationeer (that’s what we call our Disney-specialized travel agents) Rebecca Johnson has ideas about your first stop on board…
“Head straight to the kid clubs as soon as you get on board if you didn’t book them at check in. They fill up fast and your kids will thank you!”
“The kids clubs are also absolutely magical. I wish I was a kid so I could spend time in there!” – Katie Neu
If you’re concerned about leaving your kids while traveling on a floating hotel – a lot of us are parents too! We totally get it!
Here was our Vacationeer Rachel Baron’s experience with the kids club that is sure to set your mind at ease…
“Do not be afraid to drop your kids off at the kids club. My kids loved it and never wanted to leave. Plus, I had the peace of mind that they were safe. Disney is really big on security and are really good about the check out process.”
Disney Cruise Tip #5: Make magic for grown ups too.
Walt always envisioned Disneyland being a place of joy and fun for both children and adults, and that spirit is alive and well on the Disney Cruise Line ships.
With the kids signed up for some fun at the Kid’s Club, take a moment to plan some special time in the adults-only areas or even at the spa!
There are adults only areas on all of the Disney ships with pools, hot tubs, bars, and even specialty coffee. Take advantage! Kids are a ton of fun but taking a break from their excitement for a while can be just the thing you need. – Katie Neu
Late night, part of the ship is open to adults only and there is food served as well…if you aren’t exhausted from your day. – Heather Tomasek
Disney Cruise Tip #4: Take care of those taking care of you.
The high-quality Disney service you’ve come to expect is – if anything – even better on a Disney cruise.
Pay gratuities in your total cruise package. And, bring some cash for your cabin steward, as they are awesome! – Jen Allen
Make sure you get those gratuities taken care of ahead of time and also have cash on hand to say thank you for the exceptional moments you’re sure to have while sailing.
Disney Cruise Tip #3: Enjoy the incredible food…and then ask for more!
Our Vacationeer Rachel Baron had a great guest experience when dining on her Disney cruise…
“I love the truffle pasta purse appetizer on the Dream. Even though you rotate restaurants and eat in a different dining room every night, our server brought them to me because they knew how much I liked the dish.”
Talk about top-notch, tasty service!
And if you’re wondering if you should book those special Disney cruise restaurant offerings, Amy Bolt says…
“Splurge on a Palo brunch. You won’t be sorry. It is some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!”
High praise for delicious dining on the high seas!
Disney Cruise Tip #2: Remember to capture the memories!
As wonderfully immersive as a Disney cruise is, it is easy to get swept away on the tide of adventure and forget to capture those memories to keep.
But our agent Heather T. is back with another great tip for those who are willing to pay a smidge more to make sure they capture the magic for tomorrow. She encourages her clients to buy the photo package.
As she says: “The photo package is absolutely worth it!”
Disney Cruise Tip #1: Make the most of all that’s included!
As you might expect from the makers of magic, so many plussed up extras are included in a Disney cruise.
“I never miss the sail away party, the shows, or the fireworks! I love them all!” – Rachel Baron
“Trivia is always amazingly fun.” – Jen Allen
“The Broadway caliber shows are a must do for me!” – Amy Bolt
“If it is your first Disney cruise, know that almost everything is included! You want 2 desserts at dinner? Go for it! Also, don’t skip bingo. On a Disney cruise, everyone can play – even kids!” – Katie Neu
“Go to every show! Trivia and game show activities are so much fun – especially for the kids.” – Heather Tomasek
“Room service is included. Get those Mickey bars and chicken fingers sent straight to your room!” – Rachel Baron
From top-notch entertainment to delicious dining to special cruises celebrating Halloween and Christmas to Marvel and Star Wars cruises, our Vacationeers are so excited for you to enjoy all that the Disney Cruise Lines has to offer.
